I made a gazillion bee blocks for others in 2015, so from January 2016 I am going to do some selfish sewing and make bee blocks for myself.
I promise that I will complete at least three quilt blocks for me every month, and I will set aside time each month to work on them. I will be both queen bee and worker bee.
I even made myself a button to remind me to make some selfish sewing time for me bee, myself and I.

<div align="center"><a href="https://grannymaudsgirl.wordpress.com/bee-myself-and-i/" rel="nofollow" title="Granny Maud's Girl: Bee, Myself and I"><img src="https://grannymaudsgirl.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/selfishbeebutton.jpg" alt="Granny Maud's Girl: Bee, Myself and I" style="border:none;" />
If you would like to grab the button and join in, please do so. If you are a blogger, leave a comment below, and I will add you to the list of people taking part. I have chosen to make three blocks each month, but you can set yourself any number to suit your sewing time and other commitments. I think selfish sewing should be to please oneself and not too structured!
Other bloggers taking part include:
- Kate of Tall Tales from Chiconia
- Diana of Red Delicious Life
- Jane of Current Girlfriend
- Carla of Grace and Favour
- Sharon of Motherdragon’s Musings
- Sarah of Cedar Fork Stitches
- Teje of Nero’s Post
- Michelle of From Bolt to Beauty
- Deana of Dreamworthy Quilts
- Lynda of Life on the Farmlet.
You can see my posts on the blocks I make here.
Great button! I’ll definitely be joining you on 1st January 🙂
You know I’m in! Love this idea.
Yesssss I am in. I applied the button but haven’t figured out how to size it down yet. Please add me to the list, Carla. I have decided to call myself a Mason Bee, since they are the bees who build solitary nests.
Jane, I like the mason bee idea!
To resize, add the following code after jpg” and before alt: width=”150″ height=”150″
You can then adjust the numbers to anything up to about 320, but keep both numbers the same so the button stays square.
Yes please! I think this will help me get things done ; )
Thank you for the button – it will encourage me to be more productive.
I hope it works for both of us! 🙂
Good for you! I already make plenty of blocks just because I want to so I won’t sign up but know I’m cheering you on from the sidelines. 🙂 [I’m here from Tall Tales from Chiconia by the way.]
I made myself a BOM last year, it is now like my fave quilt! I am making myself a monthly Medallion this year…so I am way on board! It is always more fun in a group!
The perle cotton is such a lovely finishing touch, isn’t it. I will have to finish all my blocks before I make the big decision whether to hand quilt it that way. We shall see. 🙂
I join you! This is great idea! I go to put your beautiful bee button on my blog. x Teje
Welcome aboard, Teje!
Hahahaha! I just caught wind of this through Red Delicious Life. Love the idea and your snappy slogan. I’m in!
I take no responsibility for any Joan Armatrading sing-alongs that might arise from the slogan, Michelle. 🙂
Count me in! This will be fun!
Yay!
Late to the party but what a great idea!! I’m in!!
Grab the button and join in!
I have decided that rather than quilt blocks, my selfish sewing is going to be the needlepoint (or other stitchery) I enjoy so much but don’t indulge in as often as I’d like. Adding your button to my blog now… 🙂
That sounds like a great idea, Sue. It is all about making something for yourself, whatever you choose.
May I still join? I have just started a project for ME, and this will keep me from dropping it completely to work on a gift for someone else! What a great idea!
I really really want to do this. I grabbed your button and posted it on my blog. Its definitely going on my sidebar/footer.
Carla, would you please add me to the list? I am going to be working along with Kate Chiconi on the Hatbox quilt and a lot of mini quilts that are/will be just for me! Thank you!
