Quilt made using Splendid Sampler blocks

I decided that my May UFO would be the Splendid Sampler blocks that have been lurking in my cupboard since 2016. Having made a Dear Jane quilt and being someone who enjoys making tiny blocks, I thought it would suit … Continue reading →

Baby quilt with sun design

I have conquered another UFO, a project that has been lurking in my sewing room since early 2017. It started like this: my cousin was having a baby, so I thought I would make her a quilt. Without giving away … Continue reading →

Blue Liberty hexagon cushion

I started this cushion last March. It happened because I was neatly folding my Liberty stash. We could say that Marie Kondo prompted this cushion. I was admiring the pretty blue fabrics as I folded them and was inspired to … Continue reading →

Christmas tree skirt pattern by Granny Maud's Girl

I finished this tree skirt three days after last Christmas, or 362 days before this Christmas (as I prefer to think of it), but it has taken me a while to get the pattern written and finished. The project started … Continue reading →

Patchwork pouch and mat

I had not taken part in a swap in a very long time, so when I spotted the call for sign-ups for the #petitepatchworkswap, I put my hand up even though the sensible side of my brain knew that my … Continue reading →

Go teal it on the mountain - ovarian cancer quilt

I am frantically hand quilting my Christmas tree skirt (any completion date before midnight on Christmas Eve will feel like a win), but I cannot believe that it is almost Christmas and the end of another year. This year has … Continue reading →

Humidicrib quilts made by Granny Maud’s Girl

A bit of idle curiosity inspired me to wonder how many humidicrib quilts I have made over the years. I think I photographed most of them. Let’s see … And that adds up to … lots! One was made as … Continue reading →

What I am up to over on Instagram

Repair or ruin? Today I decided to disembowel my childhood best friend.
I’m finally accepting that perhaps swatching might be a good idea. Are my gung-ho days of knitting, hoping for the best and ripping it out when it goes pear shaped behind me?
All these years later, I can still reproduce the box-making skills you taught me, @amamayes. In silk, no less!
